The rest of the our Hawaii Trip

As for the rest of the trip in Hawaii we tried to make the most of it. The living conditions were far from ideal and the weather was not good at all. We can just say this was not our favorite trip to Hawaii. Anytime the sun came out we ran to the beach and enjoyed the sun.

At Kailua Beach we found an awesome sand dune to sled/boogie board down. That was so much fun!

Uncle Jon Skim boarding
The last couple of days we headed up to the North Shore. We were so excited to see all our friends up there. But just our luck... all of them were sick!! At least we got to see them for a second.
The Pierce family and the Baltzer family finally united again!
J and Saxon heading out for the big surf session of Turtle Bay

It literally rained the whole rest of the time we were there. Being in Hawaii while it rains with Kids is SO Hard! We really tried hard to find something to do each day. We found 3 things to do...
#1) Go eat Shaved Ice.. that always make us happy.

#2) Go to the PCC. We have not taken our kids to the PPC and they had fun watching all the dancers and the shows.

Dane, Saxon, Micah, J, and Kylie

#3) Go to the Ranch. My parents took the kids to the ranch to ride horses while Tad and I got to surf Sunset. That was a really great treat for Tad and I and the waves were really fun. The kids also had a blast with the horses.

Although we had some fun times...after the many hours of lost sleep (due to kids never sleeping), the bad weather, and our sick friends... we were excited to go home on Thanksgiving day!

Happy Birthday Kylie!

The day of Grandma Smith's Funeral was also Kylie's Birthday. She turned 2. That day was full of events for Grandma Smith but we did have a chance to sing to Kylie and give her some cake. She had fun playing at Grandma Smith's house and eating cake.

Kylie is such a sweet little girl. I am so thankful she is in our family. At 2 she is full smiles all day long. She is such a great sleeper and eater. She still sleeps from 7:30pm until around 10 am and takes about a 3 hour nap in the afternoon. She eats anything you give her and her favorite thing is ranch dressing! She will eat anything if it is dipped in Ranch. She is trying to talk as much as possible but no one can really understand her yet ;) She loves the beach and everyday tries to put her swimsuit on before I can put clothes on her. Her favorite thing in the world is to sit on your lap and read a book. She could do that all day if we let her. You really couldn't ask for a sweeter little 2 year old. Thanks Smiley Kylie for being such an amazing little girl. Happy Birthday!

Grandma Smith

November came and my Mom called to tell me that Grandma Smith was not doing great. My Grandma  had been living with Alzheimer for years and had been getting progressively worse. Then another phone call came, Grandma Smith had passed away, tears came streaming down. I had seen my Grandma start to loose her mind and suffer physically, as well. We knew that she was not happy here on earth, but I was so sad. She is my Grandma and my last grandparent living. She really was such a kind giving Grandma with a heart of Gold. She was such a great example to me. She will be greatly missed.

With the news I got on the internet and started searching for flights to Hawaii for 6 people the weekend before Thanksgiving. I thought this was going to be impossible but I was blessed. We found some great flights on priceline and 2 days later we jumped on the plane to Hawaii.

Although I was so extremely stressed bringing all of my family to Hawaii with no place to stay (our condo was rented out) I am so glad i did it. We all got to go to Grandma Smiths house one last time. My kids got to experience my childhood summer time, playing in the backyard at Grandma's house.

The View
We had a good time looking through family photo's and hanging with the family.

We all got to take some of Grandma's jewelry. Kylie was really excited.

The services were amazing and I felt so proud to call Rita Smith My Grandma.

I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the plan of Salvation. I am missing my Grandma but know that I will be able to see her again.
